Becky started her photography career at the age of 19 under the guidance of top commercial photographer Francis Abraham in Manila, Philippines. Since then, she has worked in art direction, illustration and photography. With cultural influences from both Holland and Nepal, Becky’s style is a unique blend of highly technical, digital effects and traditional art, resulting in surreal conceptual imagery.
After graduating from Ateneo de Manila University, Becky was hired to work on art direction for Unilever accounts such as Axe (Lynx) and Rexona. She then worked at DDB where she was in charge of the Pepsi account, focusing mainly on Gatorade (Lucozade).
Her first photography clients included Citibank, Unilever, McDonald’s, Nokia and Globe Telecom. As her mixed illustration style evolved, she was hired for more difficult pieces involving heavy photo retouching. New clients included MTV, Pepsi, Nestle and Levis, as well as a number of magazines and fashion labels.
Becky moved to London in 2007, becoming the youngest art director at Getty Images. She managed the high-end conceptual collections of Stone / Stone + and Photonica, collaborating with Europe’s top commercial photographers.
In 2010 Becky set up her own advertising agency, The Paper Boat Creative. It has branches in London and Manila and a third branch in Kathmandu is due to open soon. She leads a team of designers and programmers working on animation, web design, graphic design and photo retouching.
