Photoshop Retouching

A quirky shoot I art directed and retouched, shot by Nick Ballon for Getty ImagesI wonder when Adobe will ever stop making new versions of its software and just be content with it's fabulous creation. But then again, it will never stop otherwise business will stop. eh. I was happy with CS2... CS even! I'm daydreaming back to the days of Adobe05, hehe almost 10 years ago, wow.
I have hardly changed my set of tools since then. Even now, using Cs4, the only additional tool I really use is the Warp tool. It's great, but all the other features can be stuffed down the drain. Don't need them.
But then again... I don't know 3D and video graphics too well, which Cs4 and Cs5 are great for. So I'm not in a position to complain. Adobe people even installed the licensed software on my new laptop for free, which was nice of them, since my older laptop got stolen.
Thank you!!!

On models keeping a CLEAN head shot when going to castings.
One of the things that really gets on my nerves is when a prospect model walks in to my office hoping to get a job, and presents a really lousy portfolio. To be honest my dear models, a clean head shot is far better than any amount of makeup, clothes and eyelashes you could imagine putting on yourself for that amazing photograph. Art directors, casting directors and makeup artists are looking at how you register on the camera. You'll get a better shot of getting a job if you show how you look with very plain makeup in front of the camera. Then the rest of us can start imagining what to do with you, how to dress you up and put makeup on you.
No feathers for eyelashes, no strange diamond studs on your lips or anywhere else on your face please. That includes you boys as well! It's like your face was dipped in the junk section of a bead shop. No strange Page 3 poses either with nasty lingerie that makes our eyes melt, please. No pixellated pictures either please. No crazy airbrushing either please, we like skin, not plastic!
I want to see grace, beauty and class. I want to see a good range of emotion, maybe different looks with good makeup treatment. I want to see how your body moves when wearing different outfits and most importantly, you need to not take it too seriously, and be able to laugh at yourself too. I think in a way it shows wisdom.
Here's a good friend of mine, Matteo. I did his head shot as well.

he's holding back his laughter. I know it.
Now we're ready to get to work with him. Body makeup artist Laura Bake starts painting on him. Looks like she's erasing his face! haha...

Based on the sketches she and fellow makeup artist Bea Lopez made, she carefully draws Canada's maple leaf on Matteo

Tadaaahh.. nice clean makeup. The leaf smack in the middle of his forehead still makes me laugh, no offense at all to Canada. Just to Matteo :)

Also, yesss I know it's time to update the look of this site. It's happening now, new look to come very soon.
I'm so over black.

Happy 4th of July. Happy Politics, neverending politics...
Its a wonder that models aren't blind. I was using the Broncolor Para, sooo nice!
