August 26, 2007: AhhMushrooms
Saturday, August 25, 2007

It's august already and time flies quite fast when you have lots to do. Even if the day has no shoot or deadline, there is still a lot to create, a lot of ideas half done or still sketched somewhere or bumming around in my head. I feel bad for all my unfinished projects I hope they have no real feelings. So much to do.
I recently finished a mushroom shoot which was quite fun. I have been bouncing back and forth between England and Holland for the last few months and I had to have the typical English breakfast as a proper welcome the first morning I was there. I was poking the fried portobello mushroom. I've eaten it before but I never paid as much attention to the ridges on the back. Then I thought it might be nice to play around with those ridges. I looked at them in more detail in the supermarkets and began sketching ideas of how I could use this funny brown and white monster.

A model, Juliet, volunteered to come down from Manchester for this shoot. So hurah for volunteers who trust my silly ideas. Thank you so much Juliet, and Shubha (the guy model).
I'm liking London more everytime I visit.. slowly getting over the fear of being around so many human beings. There's a difference when I am around a lot of people in the studio, because I am in control. Being in a crowd is quite different... so I tend to hide and be a house cat, drawing and painting and cooking, really. London is dizzying and beautiful. It needs more trees though. I also passed by Oxford with Shubha and the trip going there and back was quite nice. We didn't see much of the actual town though since we were in a house most of the time.
